Medical ozone
01 — What is it?

A natural therapy with decades of evidence in Europe.

Ozone therapy is the controlled application of a mixture of oxygen and ozone (O₃) for therapeutic purposes. Ozone is an active form of oxygen with powerful bactericidal, antifungal, antiviral, antioxidant and healing properties.

It has been used in human medicine for over 50 years in countries like Germany, Italy and Cuba, and for years it has been successfully applied to veterinary care. In dog grooming it's used mainly as a skin and coat treatment: ozonised baths, ozonised oil for localised areas, and topical applications.

It leaves no toxic residue: ozone transforms back into oxygen inside the body. That's why it's such a safe option for dogs with sensitive skin, senior dogs, or chronic cases that don't respond to other treatments.

02 — Benefits

What does ozone do for your dog?

Six therapeutic actions that, combined, improve skin health, relieve pain and speed up recovery.

  • Antifungal action

Destroys the fungi behind many dermatitis and skin problems.

    01
  • Antibacterial

Helps fight skin infections, folliculitis and bacterial processes.

    02
  • Anti-inflammatory

Reduces pain and inflammation in joints, muscles and wounds.

    03
  • Boosts circulation

Oxygenates tissues and improves blood flow, encouraging regeneration.

    04
  • Stimulates the immune system

Physiologically reinforces the body's natural defences.

    05
  • Healing

Speeds up recovery of wounds, sores and damaged areas of the coat.

03 — Indications

When ozone therapyhelps.

It isn't magic, it's chemistry. It works very well on conditions involving inflammation, infection, difficult healing, or coat alterations.

If your dog has a chronic skin issue that won't quite go away, this may be the missing piece. Talk to us and we'll assess your case with no commitment.

  • Atopic, allergic and contact dermatitis
  • Bacterial pyoderma and folliculitis
  • Skin fungi (dermatophytosis)
  • Recurring outer ear infections
  • Wounds, ulcers and slow-healing areas
  • Hair loss and localised alopecia
  • Hot spots and wet eczema
  • Arthritis, joint pain and hip issues
  • Rehabilitation after surgery or injury
  • Senior dogs with chronic skin issues
04 — How we work

A protocol designed around your dog

We work with the same philosophy as the rest of the salon: no cages, no rush, no unnecessary restraints. Every session adapts to what your dog needs.

  1. 01

    Initial assessment

We review the state of the skin, the coat and the affected area. We adapt the protocol to your dog.

  2. 02

    Ozonised water bath

Water treated with ozone that cleans, disinfects and oxygenates the skin without irritating it.

  3. 03

    Ozonised oil application

Applied to areas with dermatitis, wounds or ear infections. Long-lasting effect.

  4. 04

    Progressive sessions

A plan of 1–2 weekly sessions, adjusted to your dog's response and progress.

Contraindications

When we do NOT use ozone therapy

Ozone therapy is very safe, but we don't apply it to pregnant females, dogs with hyperthyroidism, or the rare cases of hypersensitivity or allergy to ozone. Before starting, we always review your dog's history and, if in doubt, coordinate with your vet.

05 — Frequently asked

What people ask us most

  • Will it hurt or stress my dog?+
No. Ozone therapy is painless. The bath uses lukewarm water and the oil is applied by hand. We work with the same philosophy as the rest of the salon: no rush, respecting the dog's own pace.
  • How many sessions does it take?+
It depends on the case. For mild dermatitis, 3–5 sessions may be enough. For chronic or more severe cases, we plan a monthly maintenance. We always tell you what to expect before starting.
  • Are there any side effects?+
No adverse effects have been reported when applied with the correct parameters. Ozone transforms back into oxygen inside the body, leaving no toxic residue.
  • Can it be combined with vet treatment?+
Yes. Ozone therapy is a complementary therapy. It doesn't replace a vet diagnosis — it reinforces it. We coordinate with your vet if needed.
  • Which dogs is it NOT indicated for?+
Pregnant females, dogs with hyperthyroidism, and the very rare cases of ozone allergy. Before starting, we always review the medical history.
  • How much does a session cost?+
It depends on the dog's size and the type of treatment (ozonised bath, localised application or both). Call us at 640 824 354 and we'll give you a quote with no commitment.
